About Splash

Who we are and what drives us
The vision, mission and people behind Splash
Our approaches go beyond traditional school support. We are constantly developing new concepts based on innovative international approaches and the latest research.
Through targeted professional development, our support staff expand their knowledge — from pedagogy to psychology. By fostering close links between the child, parents, support staff, the school and the authorities, we ensure transparency and are thus able to tailor our support to the child’s individual situation. We demonstrate how inclusive education can be a success.

Dr Susanne Kreimer
Dr Susanne Kreimer knows from her own experience how important support and inclusion are for children and young people. Even as a teenager, she had to cope with a series of tragic events when both her parents died whilst she was still at school. These experiences had a profound impact on her and showed her just how crucial it is to have genuine opportunities for a successful school career.
She initially studied at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. But she couldn’t shake off her childhood dream of becoming a doctor. So she went on to study medicine – spending time in Berlin, Helsinki, Singapore, Cape Town and Sydney. She then worked as a doctor at the Charité in Berlin, where she was also closely involved in research.
In her work, she noticed how little scope there is for individualisation and innovation in many support services — including those in the education sector. As a mother and a doctor, she knows how important it is not to leave children with special needs to cope on their own. That was precisely what motivated her to set up Splash.
Through Splash, Dr Susanne Kreimer brings together her medical, scientific and personal experience. Her aim: to rethink school support so that children in Brandenburg are not merely supported, but truly empowered – for greater participation, joy and future opportunities.

FAQs
Answers to the most frequently asked questions
Here we answer the most frequently asked questions about Splash and our school support services.
How are Splash school support workers selected?
We take great care when selecting our carers. After all, the quality of our team is crucial to providing every child with the best possible support. We work with wonderful people who impress us with their patience, empathy and genuine enjoyment of working with children. Through a multi-stage process, we get to know our applicants and carefully assess their personal and professional suitability. At the start, our carers also complete a comprehensive training programme and undergo continuous professional development at our own Academy.
What exactly are the duties of a school support worker?
A school support worker provides your child with holistic support in their everyday school life, both with academic challenges and in developing social and emotional skills. As part of the integration support programme, they help organise tasks, prepare learning materials, create adapted resources and assist with communication with classmates and teachers. The aim is to strengthen your child’s independence and gradually reduce the level of support required.
How can we work together to find the right support for my child at school?
During a face-to-face discussion, we’ll identify your needs and select suitable support workers. At a meeting, you and your child will get to know the support worker and decide together whether it’s a good fit.
How does the collaboration between the child, the school, the teaching assistant and the parents work?
Close cooperation between the child, the school, the support worker, the parents and the relevant authorities is key to the success of a school support programme. We organise regular meetings in which all those involved discuss their experiences, progress and challenges. Together, we develop individual support strategies and adapt them as necessary. Our team is available to you at any time in Brandenburg as a point of contact, acting as a link to the authorities and the school, and is here to support you.
Who covers the costs of school support in Brandenburg?
The costs of school support in Brandenburg are usually covered by the relevant social services or youth welfare office. In cases of intellectual, physical, hearing or visual impairments, as well as multiple disabilities, the social services department of the district or town is responsible. In cases of mental health conditions such as ADHD, autism, anxiety disorders or depression, the youth welfare office of the district or town in Brandenburg where you live is responsible.
How long does it take to process an application for a school support assistant?
The processing time for an application for integration support varies depending on the relevant authority and the complexity of the case. As a rule, you should expect the process to take 4–8 weeks. To ensure a prompt decision on your integration assistance, we recommend submitting your application early and ensuring it is complete. Splash will be happy to assist you with this.
How long is the integration support for school support provided for?
The duration of the integration support for school assistance is based on your child’s individual needs and is usually approved for one school year. If the need continues, the integration support can be extended. We adapt the school assistance flexibly to your child’s development.
Where in Brandenburg does Splash provide school support?
We are happy to support your child at all nursery schools and mainstream schools in Brandenburg: Havelland, Dahme-Spreewald, Barnim, Märkisch-Oderland, Potsdam City, Potsdam Mittelmark, Oberhavel, Brandenburg an der Havel and in Teltow-Fläming.
